Procmon

A small system monitor for your computer. It shows what is using your memory, processor and disk, and lets you stop what is stuck.

Procmon's Overview page: twelve panels for processor, memory, graphics, network, disk, storage, energy, devices and the busiest apps, each with one number and a small chart or list.

What it does

Overview
Processor, memory, graphics, network, disk, energy and devices on one screen.
Memory
Where your RAM is going and which apps hold it. Apps that sit idle with a lot of memory are marked, with a button to quit them.
Activity
What the processor is doing, and any process that is stuck, spinning or burning CPU, with the fix next to it.
Threads
Click a process to quit, force quit or pause it, and to see every thread. Blocked threads come first, and reading the stacks shows what each one is waiting on.
Storage
What fills your disk, drawn as boxes you can click into. Old caches, logs and temporary files can be reviewed and deleted.
Devices
Connected hardware, and whether its drivers are running.

Install

macOS
Open the .dmg and drag Procmon into Applications. The first time you scan your whole disk it asks once for Full Disk Access. If you say no, it leaves the protected folders out and does not ask again.
Linux
Unpack the archive and run ./install.sh, or install the .deb.
Windows
Unzip it and run procmon.exe.
Checksums
The SHA-256 sum of every download is in SHA256SUMS.txt.
